Eastern Surf Magazine has always maintained an edgy vibe, reflecting its roots from the early days of surf culture. As we introduced more color and modern design elements to the issues, we made sure to preserve that distinct feel, keeping the magazine's bold and authentic spirit alive in the newer editions.
End-to-End Design Leadership
As Art Director at Eastern Surf Magazine (ESM), I led the art department in creating in-house ad campaigns, full editorial layouts, and cover designs that aligned with the creative themes of each issue. Recognizing the need for a more dynamic digital presence, I designed and built a custom CMS website that allowed us to publish daily surf news and updates—vital for staying relevant between the magazine’s bi-monthly print cycles. During my five years at ESM, I also spearheaded the digitization of the magazine’s entire archive, making decades of content accessible online and helping to preserve the publication’s legacy while expanding its reach.
Event Designs
While at ESM, we celebrated the magazine’s 20th anniversary with a major milestone—an exclusive center-stage display at the renowned Surf Expo in Orlando, Florida. To honor two decades of surf culture and storytelling, we created a special commemorative issue featuring highlights from years past. At the expo, we designed a gallery-style booth that showcased memorable pages and iconic moments from the magazine’s rich 20-year history.
I created and presented a prototype to partner Grom Social with the World Surf League, featuring branded characters, game concepts, and UI tailored for young surf fans.
I helped QIP modernize their online presence with a responsive website, SEO updates, improved Google Business visibility, and targeted marketing support.
